The app
Lernanto ("the learner" in Esperanto) is a way to acquire and retain core vocabulary, around 2,000 nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, from any European language into any other European language.
The app replaces neither a teacher, nor a course, nor a dictionary. Nor does it stand in for reading texts, listening to songs or watching films, still less for speaking face to face with native speakers.
It focuses on one precise goal: committing to memory the words that make everything else possible.
- Spaced repetition: each word is shown until it is memorised, then shown again before it would be forgotten.
- Auto-correction: the app works out which words need reviewing, and when.
- 27 languages, both ways: the 24 official EU languages, plus Esperanto, Icelandic and Norwegian. A Portuguese speaker learns Polish as directly as a French speaker learns Italian.
- Zero server, zero data: no account, no cloud, no tracker. Everything stays on the device.
